Telling Hoffa he needs to meet his dad. Hoffa is right. We don't need to out source anything or the American people will fall. The next thing that is going to happen is we are going to start seeing unemployment rise once more. What a Fuxin mistake. My wife is Hispanic, and yes I’m 100% Anglo Saxon but this is wrong. I don't want to be driving on the road when one of these Mexican’s is on the road for 19 hours.

Re: DOWNLOADS

Gimme a fucking break. Have the inspection people hold the trucks in question accountable when they try to cross at the boarder. Done Deal.
Mexican truckers? The Mexican trucking companies have nothing to discuss. U.S. interstate commerce shouldn't open up to Mexican companies. Mexican companies with the number of trucks you show here should have plenty of work in their own country. Thanks for your response. Most informative! I thought the issue was about crossing the boarder and doing international trade. I find out now that Mexican trucking companies DO want to come here to the U.S. and do business in U.S. interstate commerce, I'm gonna have to say that I wouldn't have any interest in that.

Re: Union Propaganda machine goes full tilt, but, statistics don’t lie. Carry freight in from Mexico to a U.S. destination, then haul U.S. exported freight back to Mexico. Is that so difficult??? I have never seen anyone say a damn thing even closley related. NAFTA is about international trade. Safety Inspections and regulations have to be met by all parties involved and from the data collected, the companies that are questionable should be scutinized. The companies involved have to have their company in compliance with numbers, insurance, permits, and so on. So with that said I go back to the opening statement; Why can't the Mexican trucking companies do the same as tha Canadian trucking companies.......?

Re: Texas Senator John Cornyn & Texas DPS weigh in on proposed Mexican truck program

Don't believe that is what was said. Can you provide specifics? And not the claptrap put out by the unions because many of them are the cause of companies moving their businesses offshore and to other countries.

Mexican truckers will not undercut US truckers. US truckers, happily hauling for $1.00 a mile or less have undercut themselves. Thing the Mexicans will pull our freight for these rates? Think again.

When rates Mexican truckers demand for hauling in their own country range from$1.85 to $2.25 per mile, I don't think we need to worry.

NAFTA has been both a benefit and a detriment to all three countries involved. And their regulatory environment works for them. It puts personal responsibility on the companies and the drivers to follow the rules. Failure to do so can cost them their jobs, licenses and freedom. A powerful incentive to play by the rules in Mexico.

People fail to realize, these trucks are here, and have been for years. People don't know this because they don't cause problems, get into accidents etc.

Every single truck crossing that southern border, and keep in mind, more than 4 million loads cross the southern border annually, are looked at, inspected visually or manually at the border and at the state inspection stations just beyond the border, and again, at inland immigration check points.

Believe it or not, bribes used to be the "social norm" in Mexico but over the years, that has changed. I know. I tried to get a 65" flat screen across the border at xmas and had to pay the tariff on it. I miss the old days. And it is becoming increasingly difficult to make a traffic problem go away for a $50 peso bribe.

Times have changed in Mexico. People on this side of the border fail to see it or refuse to acknowledge it.

Sure, there is corruption in Mexico, but the same corruption exists in the US. In Mexico, it's more open. In the US, it's called "lobbyists"

But you know James, up there in Radnor Twp Pa., a beautiful part of your state, it is doubtful you'll ever see a Mexican truck and if you do, you would not realize it. They are no different than ours, and in many cases, better.

3 trucks a day, as Hoffa claims, crossing the border and coming into the interior, is not a threat nor is it competition to our 4 million + licensed commercial drivers

Porter M. The few Mexican transportation safety regulations do not even come close to ours, and the majority of these trucks coming through inspections, will probably come by way of bribes, which seems to be a social norm south of the border. And I do not believe that increase in exports to Mexico will make up for the damage done the the US trucking industry if these trucks are allowed to come through. Why should we reward a country like Mexico for flooding our Southern states with illegal immigrants and fueling are narcotics supply?

Re: Election 2010 & the Mexican Truck Issue

eugeniog@live.com would like to get in touch with Advocate 540.
